SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES IN BIRMINGHAM

Islam Awareness Week aims to promote greater awareness and accurate understanding of Islam and the Muslim community. This project has been running for the past 15 years and is supported by national and local government.

IAW also provides an opportunity for children to learn more about Islam and allay misconceptions and stereotypes often associated with it. It is with this in mind that we want to involve pupils and hope that will be able to organise activities that will enhance their pupils understanding of Islam.

In addition, we have invited
  • Singer, songwriter and poet Dawud Wharnsby Ali to perform in Birmingham schools and to share his experiences. As Dawud has become more actively involved with educational initiatives promoting artistic expression as a means for achieving positive social change. (See section entitled ‘Guests During IAW’ within the booklet for further details)
  • Mohammad Ali, an award winning artist is offering small and large scale art workshops (See section entitled ‘Guests During IAW’ within the booklet for further details)
In Birmingham we are offering assemblies, classroom presentations, lesson plans at no cost. International artists can also be booked for art workshops and music concerts for a subsidised fee.
