The 99 Names of God
If you want to make good friends with someone, you have to make an effort to now them.
Similarly, knowing God is the first step in the path to His companionship. He urges us to recognise Him through the magnificent artistry of the heavens and the earth and the remarkable workings of our own minds and bodies.
Although instinctively, many people do have a natural sense of what God means, it is through revelation that this understanding and knowledge of the Creator is taken to higher levels, enriching the thoughts and emotions of those who reflect, to the point that they are struck with awe, caution, calm, determination, nobility, strength, hope, mercy and love.
The Qur'an, God's last 'official communication' is rich with descriptions of His glorious attributes, essentially amounting to 99 in number.
